How to Prepare Your Car for a Summer Road Trip

If you are planning a summer road trip, it's time to get your car prepared for the journey! Pick the Vehicle
If you have multiple vehicles, your first step is to choose which one is better suited for the adventure. If you need more cargo space for packing items - choose the bigger one. If you are driving many miles - choose the odometer that has more miles on it already.
Book an Oil Change
Before you leave for a long trip, it's best to get your oil changed. Long and hot drives can be hard on your car's oil - especially if you are towing a trailer or have many hills on the route.
Check Fluids
To ensure your vehicle is ready, check all of the fluids. This includes: the coolant (this keeps the engine from overheating), the brake fluid (to stop in a safe manner), and the windshield washer fluid (to ensure a clean and clear vision is maintained).
Review the Brake Pads
In order to stop safely, the brake pads and rotors must be in good condition. If they haven't been replaced in 15-20 kilometers or they appear to only be 3-4 millimeters thick, it's time for a replacement.
Check the Tires
Before take-off, take notice of your tires. Are they looking flat? Do they have a nail in them? Does your spare tire have the proper air pressure in it? Consider all these questions before you leave for your trip.
Don’t Forget the Navigation
Whether you plan to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, ensure that you have a sufficient amount of data to last the trip in order to load your Google Maps. TIP: We are old school and recommend printing a copy just in case!
Create an Emergency Car Kit
When road-tripping, it's essential to have an emergency car kit on hand. Items like water, a flashlight, a first aid kit, road flares, jumper cables, etc., should be with you at all times.
Bring the Entertainment
Whether you are interested in music or audiobooks, ensure that your entertainment is packed. For passengers, have them set up with their favourite TV shows or movies. Don't forget a charging cord!
Is the Air Conditioning Working?
While traveling in the summer, it's essential to have a working air conditioner - traveling with the windows down won't be comfortable for long. Make sure cold air is blowing out and pay for the repairs if not - trust us, it's worth it!
Don't Forget Snacks
